Central Spine Road – Transforming Regional Connectivity
The Gujarat State Road Development Corporation Limited (GSRDC) is developing a major access-controlled expressway connecting Ahmedabad with the Dholera Special Investment Region (DSIR). Known as the Central Spine Road, this expressway will initially open as a four-lane route with infrastructure planned for future expansion to six lanes.
This pivotal corridor will seamlessly link Ahmedabad on one end with Dholera and the Bhavnagar ports on the other, serving as a backbone for industrial, commercial, and residential development. By enabling swift movement, reducing travel time, and supporting future industry clusters along the route, the Central Spine Road is set to act as a powerful catalyst for growth across the entire region.
The project is part of the wider connectivity plan under the DMIC framework and has been approved by the central government.

A dedicated rapid-transit railway line has been proposed to connect Gandhinagar, Ahmedabad, and Dholera, covering roughly 100 km. The project is planned as an elevated corridor to ensure high-speed, uninterrupted travel for both commuters and business travellers. The route is also being evaluated for integration into the proposed high-speed rail corridor linking Pune, Mumbai, and Ahmedabad, with the possibility of extending the line to Dholera via GIFT City. The Government of Gujarat has initiated multiple feasibility studies and engaged leading infrastructure agencies to drive this project forward.
